So weird, I still don't know why the glitch occurred or why this process solved the problem or if IC listing an invalid IP address for the only scanner it finds is a potential problem. Answer/Solution Stop all applications and services that use Kofax VRS / ImageControls. How to fix Mac scanner issues in Image Capture and other apps. It still works, but it still lists the incorrect IP for the scanner. I deleted this new instance of the printer, went back to the original instance in Settings/Printers & Scanners, and tried Image Capture again. I installed another instance of the printer/scanner using Epson Printer Finder, made the second instance active, and Image Capture then found the scanner instantly and scanned normally. Image capture still listed the scanner address as 192.168.1.98 and still could not connect to it. I changed the IP for Bonjour, saved, and exited.

Look in System Report to see if the USB connection to the iPhone appears at all. Try in Safe Mode to see if a third-party extension might work. The printer component was working normally.

There's no way to change that in Image Capture. I noticed in Image Capture that it was looking for the scanner at 192.168.1.98, but the correct IP address is 192.168.1.97. Today, though, Image Capture could not make a "connection" to the scanner. My Epson AIO WP-4530 has worked with this computer for years without fail. Image Capture has wrong IP address for scanner I'm on Catalina 10.15.7.
